So...those school dreams don't go away? How about the back-to-school excitement in Aug/Sept?
I had a friend who retired from teaching. She was out in her garden when the school bus went by on the first day of school and she said she just bawled.
Five more years to teach at the least, more, perhaps.

I was in semi-retirement for almost 5 years. Worked as a dietary supervisor in nursing home kitchens and loved it but the hours were really long and my hubby finally said that i should find something part time. So I made donuts for a while, that was fun. And now that he is quite ill and having to take disability, I am back in the work force full time again. This time doing retail. Like the job alot, but miss my free time. Never quite enough time in a day to get everything done now. And sigh it will be ten years before i can officially retire.

I have 10 months and 2 weeks to go....but who's counting. After 30 years on my feet walking 5-8 miles a day and lifting , pushing and pulling things my body feels it and it is now a struggle to do the job and repair my self for the next day. Nursing can be extremely hard on a body. I have a stack of projects ready to go for next year. My friends can't believe I am leaving but I keep telling them that to work another 2 or three years won't make that much difference to my pension but it will to my health and I didn't work all this time not to be able to enjoy a Christmas or other holiday without having to worry about rushing off to work while the rest of the family enjoys their time off.
