So for you Dyson owners, have you had to have repairs? Just curious.

We have 2 lg shedding dogs that live in our with us. We were going through a sweeper a year. In 2003 we bought a Dyson Animal. Love it so much that we bought another one for our RV. In 2006 we bought our DD one as a wedding gift. None of these have ever had to be serviced or anything. I use mine twice a day. Even do the rug on out patio a couple times a week with it. Sears sells them along with Target, and Sam's CLub here. I love it because there are no bags or belts. I took ours to my Moms who has a Rainbow and she was amazed at how much my Dyson picked up. We will never own another brand.

Of all the vacuum cleaners I have had and used the Fantom out does them all... so easy to use and boy does it clean deep. Picks up cat hairs pins, needles and those pesky little threads that find their way to the floor. Just bought my second one (first on is over 25 years old, still works great but new one has more bells and whistles), I have one for up stairs and one for down stairs. Now if I could just find someone to operate them for me I would have it made. Fat chance of that happening so I am glad it is very easy to use.

Miele vacuum's are really good. I bought my Miele in 1992 on the advice of our allergist and haven't regretted it. It is still cleaning well. A Riccar would be my second choice. I can't do a bagless vacuum because I'm allergic to the dust. Emptying becomes an issue.
I've owned a Rainbow and a Thermax as well. Both of these are good vacuums but I hated having to empty the water.
