Dyson - it is the best I have had and really cleans easily. The company even sends you reminders about when to wash the filters. You don't have to buy bags for it and there is no 'vacuum smell' whilst you are using it.

Really it's the best vacuum I have ever used. It's worth the price.

We have had the Dyson Animal for about 5 years. Started out great, but felt it had not been doing as well lately. We bought A Bissell for Pets and it is doing a much better job. It cost less than half of the Dyson price. We are a household of two adults and one small long haired dog.

I have an Oreck and love it. It's not bulky and heavy. I also have their small vac that does curtains etc. and that's nice too. I have lots of attachments, even the mini that does keyboards.I don't have pets so don't know about pet hair.

I have two Orecks.......the upright for my oriental area rugs and the large hooked rug beneath my diningroom furniture and the Oreck Quest, a small canister for the hard surface flooring and everything above the floor. Each has it's purpose. I was never happy with an upright that had a diverting mode tools for cleaning upholstered furniture and mattresses. And they never reached high enough to do the tops of cabinets and crown moldings.
