I have both a Dyson and an Oreck. My favorite is the Oreck.

I just recently invested in an Oreck - it leaves the room smelling so fresh, and it has a gadget that when you press teh button, it it like a magnetic force that sucks in all the dust particles - none in the air - less dusting, and oh so clean a smell.... wasn't sure I'd like it - but it is great - especially with cats in the house - no hair anywhere, and I'm certain it picks up any cat dander or if there may be mites anywhere..

    Very funny!

Love the Oreck. Good prices on ebay. They are lightweight and pick up great. Not heavy like the others.

My favorite vacuum would be one that runs itself. But, alas, I only have one I have to push and pull around(Oreck with Hepa filter...nice and light).

I have a water vac, similar to Rainbow. It is a little messy to clean up but does a very thorough job and you can see the results!

No we have never had to have any of ours repaired, we have one for the office too, but it does not work well in our new house on all wooden floors so I need something else. Anyone have all wooden floors and have a good cannister. I tried the dyson cannister and it was terrible.

So for you Dyson owners, have you had to have repairs? Just curious.

This leaves your house smelling so clean. We had this before the Dyson. What makes it so awesome, the water, is also what made it a night mare when my many kids ran it. Also I think you still need a vacuum cleaner for small spills or touch up vacuuming as it is just too much to set up and clean up the Rainbow for just vacuuming under the table after lunch.

I think it is called Rumba? My friend has one that runs itself and she cleans her house that way. She just puts Rumba down and he goes to work. LOL
