A friend of mine in Washington, DC is also a quilter. Her granddaughter likes to play with the scraps and put them up on the design board. She talks to the pieces, arranges and rearranges until she has a pleasing design. It would be interesting to see if her color/designs coordination has improved after these several years and if she has started to stitch. We moved from DC about 13 years ago.

Sounds like my wookie, she's almost 3 and cries if she isn't in my lap when I am at the machine, she likes to push the go button and thread cutter button. Its so cute, even though its a pain if I actually need to work on something I have to wait for her to nap to quilt. She's about 5months old in my avatar and ever since she was old enough to walk she love touching fabric, loves the sewing machine. I think she likes fabric more than me. She gives her opinion of quilts on the quiltboard regularly, yes she is a bonafide quilt inspector. " That's pretty mommy" or "I like it" are her 2 favorite phrases.

Thank you all for your lovely responses. Grand children are such a joy aren't they? As the saying goes 'If I knew what fun grand children would be I would have had them first!!!' LOL glad you enjoyed the story and the pics. I loved the stories you added as well.

My GKs always loved to play with my fabric, floss, or whatever I was working on. One of my GDs used to sit in my lap as I was sewing. She just loved to watch the machine work. Now she is 26 and is the one that really uses up her quilts
