Try a dryer sheet or 2 for mosquitoes. My dad uses them when mowing long grass near an irrigation ditch.
So I tried it this year while in my garden. Tucked under the back of your cap or in a pocket. It works!! I'm
a magnet for mosquitoes, they love my neck, face & ears. This year very few bites. Vickie

If copper is important to this, our pennies have barely any copper in them these days. At some point the value of copper escalated until the amount in a penny was worth more than one cent, so they quit making 100% copper pennies in 1856. They were mostly copper for a long time after that, but currently, since 1983, in the US they use 97.5% zinc with 2.5% copper. I don't know whether flies care one way or the other. We have a much bigger problem with mosquitoes around here. I rarely see flies, but I'll keep it in mind to try if there's a need. At least it wouldn't be a costly experiment.

Fly season is a challenge in Australia. This should work there. It is the reflection prisms of the items in the water and the water itself. Look thru a glass and see the distortion.
