hi, my name is judi and I'm very new to quilting! I took my first class in november and my first quilt which was a sampler is being quilted as I write. Made a ton of mistakes but I think it will always be my favorite! I'm hooked on quilting and have three more planned! I have a question though. Do you have to add the binding with a walking foot? It seems such a silly question that I am embarressed to ask the place I took the class. One day I hope to be answering these questions! Thanks!

Hello, and welcome from Missouri! You do NOT have to use a walking foot to attach your binding. How many of our grandmothers and other previous quilters had one? It just helps if you have a walking foot, because of the bulk.
This is a great place to ask questions, because we have all asked and have gotten answers to "dumb" questions. The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask, and knew you should have!

Hello and welcome from Perth, Western Australia. I have learned that absolutely no question goes unanswered here and everyone shares information and tips very generously. Look forward to seeing your first project.

Welcome from northeast CA. Glad you joined us. This is the best place for learning and lots of inspiration. There are no "dumb" questions. I personally prefer using a walking foot for stitching in the ditch, echo quilting and binding.
