I am a newby and have LOTSA questions. You all seem so knowledgeable. My first question: I have an inexpensive sewing machine with no manual included. Walmart special. So, I don't really know how to work it. What should the tension be so you don't get the ruffles or eyelashes on the opposite side of your work? It took me hours to pick out stitches from a piece last week and don't want to make that mistake again. Thanks.

Welcome from Iowa. I found my manual by googling it. Good luck.

You might just have to adjust it by trial and error. Go just a little bit at a time.

    Welcome from northern Minnesota!

should the numbers be larger or smaller? Sounds crazy but I don't know which way to go. Maybe I am talking about my life and not just my new hobby. LOL

Hi and welcome from Connecticut. You will figure your machine out just by trying new things and ways on scrap pieces of cloth if you can't find the manual on the Internet. Good luck.
