I workded on one with ladies of my church years ago. We did it with half flowers and half hexagons to make a straight edge all the way around. Hope this makes sense.

Hi and welcome! I think I'd have to go with the straightest edge I could get..dealing with all those hexs..well, I'd have to put a hex on someone before I was done

Welcome!:)I'd vote for the straight edge too...that quilt looks really sharp!! That way when you are done quilting this quilt, you can add your 'straight' binding and put that baby on a bed forever! With vintage quilts some of us cherish the fabric, the thought this quilter had and you are going to 'frame'that creator's thoughts.:))Do keep us posted on the progress of this finish!! Again, I vote to go w/the direction it has....it is beautiful!! Skeat

(The problem lies in the uneven sides leaving no additional fabric for turning under))I am not sure what you are 'rolling' under??I use a strip of fabric to make my own binding. I cut about a 2 1/2" strip, fold and sew that on the edge for binding and rolling it under to whip in place:)
