Welcome to the board from Oklahoma by way of Massachusetts!! If you have questions, we have answers. If you have answers, we will ask questions. You may consider this your new home, and we are your family.
I am getting the Brother 6000i tomorrow! How about that.

Hi Boston1954,
I think you will be pleasantly surprised at all you get for your money with the Brother6000i. I think it is a pretty well-rounded machine. I am still figuring things out and practicing, but that is because i have never sewn nor quilted before. I am having a lot of fun though! I am also just loving this message board. Sooo informative and a lot of really great people.

Welcome from San Jose
Here in the Bay Area Fons and Porter has a show daily on KQED. Not sure where in the Bay Area you are but you can go to Rays Sewing Center on Meridian and Parkmore in San Jose and they are really helpful and I believe they have classes again.

Holy Cow quiltstodo! I live in Campbell! This is the first time i have seen someone on this message board from my direct area. I have been to a couple of places to inquire about classes. The first one was The Quilting Bee located on Hillsdale. Lovely place but the classes cost about $150. The next place i went was to AAA quilting or something like that. Located off of Branham and Meridian. What with all the expenses i have had so far just starting up, i cannot afford classes that are in that price range right now.

I'd be happy to meet for coffee and help you any time. I'm just getting settled in our new house and don't have my sewing set up yet but if you would like meet I would be happy to help you. I never took classes my aunt in texas taught me years ago and I've been hooked ever since. I'll send you a PM with my phone number if you would like to call.
