Hi Valerie,
Welcome to the board from NY. Regarding adding pictures, did you preview your post? You can't preview when you add picture attachments.
I have increased quilts by simply adding borders and never thought it looked wierd. I am sure it would work out fine the way you describe.

I have enjoyed reading all of the different topics, and learned a lot of little hints from the message board, so thankyou all for your comments.
Question: The quilt I am about to start has a finished size of 58x80, and does not call for borders. Naturally to make life difficult for myself I need to make it into a queen size and the quilt does not lend itself into increasing its size, so I can only do it with borders. Do you think it would look weird having a narrow border on the bed top and all borders as the drop. I plan on having one border made of strips of all 20 fabrics that the quilt contains. I would love to send a picture of the pattern but I have yet to figure out how to send attachments without losing my entire message (tried it last night, didn't work) Any comments or alternative suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am so happy I stumbled upon this web site.

my friend has made bargellos with borders and they look stunning. In my opinion it is importent what color you choose for the border.
Should you not be sure how it will look, take a picture of your finished quilt, print it on regular paper and draw with colored pencils a border around it. Just like you intend to do.
Make a copy of this too, so you get a pretty good idea how it could look like.
May be this will help,
Love Ilona
