Greetings From Mississippi
Hello all.
Quick summary here:
I am in my mid life age range (50's shhh, don't tell anyone). Me and my wife and my mom are all in the same household now. Helping each other through life. (Well ok, I'm here to help mom up now and again.)
Mom has 30 plus years sewing and quilting experience. I have One rag quilt experience! Yay.
However, I do like to learn new things so....
We are finalizing the deal on a Gammill long arm 14 footer today. It should arrive in about 3 weeks.
Meanwhile I have downloaded Creative Studio 7.0 for stand alone and study. Pretty lost on it so far as not much in the way of tutorials come up in my search results. Thought I would try to get a head start before the machine arrives...
Before anyone asks, yes, I/we plan on turning this into a long arm business.
That's the intro in a nutshell, and why I am on this board. I guess long arming has somethiing to do with quilting?

Welcome aboard. I'm new here too. Seems to be lots of helpful people at all skill levels. I've been quilting about 40 years but only been long arming for the last 5 or so. The set-up I use belongs to a friend, although her table allows for pantograms she doesn't have the back arms for the machine and no computer driven designs -- but still a vast improvement over trying to stuff entire quilts through my little old sewing machine
For me the hardest part of the process is coming up with the quilting designs. I think in 2-D just fine but still working on 3-D!

Thank you for the welcomes so far.
Sewbizgirl, I followed your Etsy store link and see that you are about 2 hops, a skip, and a jump west of us. (We are in Smith county.)
One of us 3 will open an Etsy store in a few months. Selling quilts for starters. Mom has 19 tops waiting on the long arm! So I got a bit of practice lined up.
