Hi! I have been sewing since home ec. class in eighth grade--over forty years! I sewed mostly clothes for many years, then curtains for our house. In the early nineties, I began to weave rugs for a business and began to accumulate LOTS of fabric. My sales dropped before I got it all woven up (we live in a rural area, and my rugs last a long time).
About a year ago I decided to try to sew up some of the stash into baby quilts to give away and sell. I had a lot of light cotton material, not necessarily quilt fabric, but felt it would work nonetheless. I joined a quilt group in August for inspiration and went to my first quilt retreat in September at Mahaffey, PA.
By that time, I was chomping at the bit to get a longarm quilter. I bought a used Handiquilter 16 in November and love doing quilts on it! I have been doing lots of practicing and have done five or six for pay over the winter while working as a receptionist at H&R Block. Now, tax season is over, and I am anxious to get my business off the ground!
It will be nice to have a "quilt guild" online! I love reading various quilting blogs!
