Welcome, Corrine. My favorite go-to pattern is The Yellow Brick Road. A crib or lap size goes together quickly and is fat-quarter friendly.

Welcome, Gramma Corrine. You will be just fine. The simple nine-patch, four=patch blocks can be made into darling quilts so if you want something easy and quick to help you get started on an addictive hobby, do that. :) Congratulations on your grands. Enjoy them, and you will be busy making quilts, because they will ALL want one, once you start.
    Blessings,

Welcome Corinne, from Western New York.
Remember, age is just a number. That's what I keep telling myself, LOL.
