Hello from Alpharetta, Ga
Hi everyone,
I'm Maureen and I've been quilting for about 3 years, off and on. I'd love to hear from anyone in my area about any quilting groups in my area that they enjoy. I attended a quilt guild in Marietta at Tiny Stitches quilt shop that was very nice, but it is a bit too far to travel and I'm hoping there's something closer and maybe a little less formal. Also, I'm batting (no pun intended!)around an idea of starting my own informal group.
My project currently is a string quilt made partly with fabric from my father's dress shirts. It's a throw sized quilt and I'm trying to quilt it on my Bernina. After two attempts, I think I will again take out the quilting I've done and re-pin the layers better. I will try to figure out how to post a picture. I think maybe I'm not allowed yet.
Looking forward to getting to know some people here!
thanks!
Maureen

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. You might enjoy checking out Bonnie hunter's site at www.quiltville.com or her www.quiltville quips and snips blogspot. She does a lot of quilts with re-purposed shirt and even has a video on the fastest way to de-bone a shirt. I am a big fan of Hobbs 80/20 fusible quilt batt for machine quilting.

The Atlanta chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild meets at Tiny Stitches alternating with Intown Quilters in Duluth. I've only been to one meeting but they seemed very nice! I'm not sure if Duluth is any closer to where you are... sorry, I'm not that familiar with all the ATL suburbs!

Welcome from North Carolina! There's lots of articles here about everything in the world to do with quilting. Maybe do a search on the quilts made from shirts? I seen several here. We're glad you're here.
