Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes, yes, it's my 63rd birthday today. (10th, for those of you with time differences). Sorry Buggalugs for hijacking your thread. (BTW, my father used to call me buggalugs too, so it can't just be a Yorks/Lancs thing, as I was born in Hertfordshire)

I will happily accept Presidency, as long as it doesn't involve too much, as otherwise I will have to decline, because of pressing UFO's getting on my conscience. In that case I will defer to age and mplsgirl can take up the challenge!

It's a Yorkshire term of endearment - ha'porth is short for 'half penny worth'. My granny said you USED to be able to get a ha'porth of chips (French fries NOT crisps!)

Lacelady no worries, enjoy the warm wishes and I hope you had a great day too :)
Madquilter, ha'porth is a corruption of Halfpenny, a small sum of money if you were lets say mentally challenged  you were a ha'porth short of a shilling :)
Aunt Doggie I have tried to get into chat but I seem to have a problem, all the text goes right over where I am supposed to write and I can't make myself 'seen' lol no idea what is wrong but I shall persevere :)
