Hello everyone from New York
#23
welcome, we're almost neighbors! I'm from Auburn.
I have often picked out a easy pattern and then trace it on paper, pin to the quilt and then follow the lines. I use pattern tracing paper from Connecting threads or exam. room paper. Also have heard of people using Press and Seal. Instead of tracing you can also sew through a stack of papers (sew without thread in the machine) but my eyes aren't good enough to see those lines.

Add me to your list of "neighbors": I'm in Fayetteville, NY.
To answer your question, do you have a JoAnn's near you? They sell stencils and my store has a very comprehensive selection of books for quilting.
