I'm Calistria and love making quilts. However I find quilting my own is scary. I am making a simple baby quilt now and this is the first quilt I am quilting myself. I took the easy way out and decided to do quilt in the ditch but would like to do something pretty on the borders. I am not really sure about stenciling or freehand quilting. Any suggestions?

Use your creativity and intuition. There are no rules in quilting. Welcome from Colorado.

I have not tried free motion quilting yet. I traced a leaf pattern onto old "copy" paper, pinned the sheets to the quilt border & stitched with my walking foot.

    Welcome for Southeastern, PA!

Hello Calistria, welcome from Minnesota! Pretty name! I've never done FMQ either ... I've never gotten the hang of it.

Hi! Welcome from MS. I'm working on my first quilt and am a little intimidated by the quilting stage, but excited at the same time!
