Hello From Georgia

Hi and welcome from "on the road", currently the State of Michigan (ugh!). We live on the road, but spend winters in GA. Not sure where you are located in GA, but I would recommend either finding a beginner's class (Hancock's, JoAnn's, your LQS). Or you could start with charms and simply sew 5" blocks of various patterns and/or colors together to make your first quilt. Easy to do and will build your confidence to take on bigger and more difficult projects. It will give a handle on cutting "perfect" squares, sewing 1/4" seems to get everything lined up, and then quilting it in a simple classic style. If you want to send me a PM on where you are located in GA, I might could hook you up with someone to help you learn. God Bless.

Hi and welcome from Idaho. I agree with some of the others, try your local quilt shop or quilt guild and take a class if you can. Seek out other quilters and you will find one willing to help. I don't know where you are located but I know there is a very nice quilt store, that does classes, in McDonough.
Everyone here is more than willing to answer your question if you strike out on your own, do not be afraid to ask.
