I've learned to write down what the settings were before I started turning things.
For the tension screw on the bobbin case, I'd write something like "11:00 o'clock"
and that is true, only turn it a tiny bit at a time.

Welcome from NE CA. Glad you joined us. Have you taken the thread out and completely rethreaded it? Have you make sure the bobbin thread is going the way it's supposed to? I'm sure that someone on board will be able to help you.
