Bonnie, I think flannel is a wonderful weight batting for a summer quilt. As already suggested, be sure to prewash and dry; flannel shrinks like crazy.

Thank you so much! I am currently working on a mini quilt it was supposed to be 16" square but i did mess it up a little so it is turning out to be 14" square and I am trying the flannel which so far feels good. I am currently trying to put my threads in, which I think means the actual quilting part.
