Your new home sounds neat--quilt retreats are so fun and from the looks of your quilts, you will be an inspiration to anyone who comes to your house!!
Have you been to KU to see their sampler and quilts collection? It is fantastic!!

Oh--you are so lucky!!! I went there years ago with my embroidery guild to see their sampler collection. We were given a "behind the scenes" private showing. I was not a quilter then, but saw MANY of their quilts hanging in the storage area and was fascinated with them. They have an extensive textile collection. I would love to go again to see the quilts this time.

Actually, the only have 183 quilts and many of them are not that great. They do have some great ones in the collection that are deffinately worth seeing.
A couple of other places that you can go and see great quilts up close:
The Smithsonian will give you a tour of the quilt room. The Annapolis quilt guild does the tours and they will do it on a one on one basis. They open up the drawers of about a dozen quilts and these are some of the best.
The International Quilt Study Center in Lincoln, Nebraska has a collection of well of 1000 quilts now and they are ALL museum quality and very special specimins. They refold their quilts on a rotating basis and use all volunteers. So, you can plan to go there in the summer and work with the quilts. You can stay at the Alumni Center for a reasonable cost. They server breakfast every day as part of your stay. It is fun to do this as a group. You will see things that you never thought existed in the way of quilts.... OMG.....

Maybe in February you can come to the Kansas Equine Fest and see us ride our horses? Opps, I forgot we only have one not pregnant so only one of will be able to ride.
Last year I made a quilt with my horses on it and in the Icelandic colors and US colors and we used it as a display.
