Hi to everyone... My name is Ruth, a.k.a. Mom, Grandma and, to my 5 Great Grandkids, GiGi. I'm retired but working part-time. Only way I can support my addiction to quilting! Christmas is just around the corner and I'm getting a little nervous. Have 5 quilts to make and am just now finishing the third one! If only I could sew as fast as I can dream up projects. Anyone else with the same problem?

Gigi! I love it! When my granddaughter, now 15, was born, my son asked me what she should call me. I asked him to give me some time to think about it.
A day or two later I told him I had narrowed my grandma name to two choices. One was Gma, the other was Oma. He asked why those names. So I told him that I'm used to answering to those names already. In response, he said "Well, GEE, MA!"
And I said "I rest my case."
He chose Oma. Later, I found out that Oma is the German version of Grandma. Even later, I found out that the Greek version of Grandma is Ya-Ya! which I would have chosen in a second if I knew about it.
Enjoy those grands - they grow up even faster than our kids do - but you already know that!

Welcome from Phx arizona. You are living where I wish I was. I love that area of Washington. As for the quilts, I also have the same problem and I just keep working away knowing they will get done and that they will be loved. I envy you!!!!

Welcome Ruth. I am the Nanna of 3: 2 girls (5 & 7) and 1 boy (3 months). I retired due to illness and can not return to work. I hope you get as much as I have, out of this site. Good luck getting your quilts finished for Xmas.
