My name is Phillippa and I have recently moved to Millville NJ from a sleepy village in South Norfolk, England.
I have always enjoyed anything creative and used a sewing machine to make many things from a young age but quilting is new to me!
I joined a 101 class at Atlantic County Quilts in Hammonton last week and am so happy I did. You American ladies have made me feel very welcome as not only do I want to start a new (looks like a very addictive) hobby, but I would love to make some new friends too. Gloria our teacher is just wonderful and I have already learnt a couple of nifty 'tricks' of the trade.
Chatting to polite shop assistants is just not enough anymore!
My husband and I have no furniture as yet in our lovely home as it is still in transit on a container ship in the Atlantic somewhere :D, but I have a small table and my sewing machine so whilst there is no housework to do I shall indulge myself in this wonderful artform.
I enjoy many things including playing my Djembe (I need to find a local class for that) and was part of a good Amateur Dramatic Society both helping with costumes and make up behind the curtain and playing some great characters on stage.
I'm not lonely but really miss the company and friendship of women so hope this is the way to go!

Hi Phillipa, and welcome to the board from Southern California! I lived overseas for 20 years, too and only came back 1 1/2 yrs ago, and don't really know many people. I don't work, so rarely get out! I also find this board so necessary for "companionship" - not just female-we have some great men on this board too! I also was in a theatre group for about 18 years, though mainly just on stage-LOVE acting!!
