Hello from Northern Wisconsin
#1
Hello - I have been quilting for a year & a half - since my retirement. I have taken several classes at a local quilt shop & discovered I enjoy machine applique and paper piecing the most. My first big project was a king size Spirit of the Northwoods quilt for my son. It has 12 blocks - a different scene for each month of the year. I had a great time doing each block but I'm glad it is finished so I can try other things. I just posted a pic of the Spider Star I made from the May BOM. Such fun - can't wait to see the June block. I have learned lots from reading all your messages. Thanks for all the good info.

Beautiful Spider Star! I started quilting after retirement also but haven't made too many things yet. I definitely am hooked though! Everytime we travel, I ask my husband to stop at a quilt supply shop. We visited the museum in Paducah KY last year and hope to go back this year. The quilts there are really inspirational!!

Hi Anne Marie and welcome. I also am from Wis, Oshkosh to be exact. I also made the same quilt for our son, for his "up north" cabin. I loved doing that quilt and was sorry when it was done. I had so much fun, traveling all over trying to find the exact prints as was in the book. It was a fun filled summer, looking for them and then making it. Am thinking of making another.

Would love to see pictures of your quilt - I don't know anyone else who has done one. You can see pictures of mine here:
