Hello from Ohio

I have been reading your posts for a few months, but never asked a question. I am new to quilting and have a basic Brother sewing machine. The only "foot" I can purchase for it is a 1/4". I have been looking at a purchasing new machine, but not sure which one---I've looked at Singer Confidence Q and BabyLoc---big difference in $$$--but I suppose "you'll get what you pay for"! What are some of your thoughts??

Welcome from southeastern PA!
Get what you can comfortably afford. You can always traid up later. Sit down & try out the machine before purchasing by taking a small quilt sandwich with you. A walking foot is pretty much a must for machine quilting. They do make generic walking feet that fit most machines. You have to make sure you get the right one for the "shank" your machine has.

Hi to all of you---I'm in Newark Ohio.
Thanks Donnajean for the info---I pretty much decided to go and try each machine. I've been sewing blocks together on my machine now and it does a very good job--not always perfect tho---
