hello from ohio

I've been watching this site for awhile . . . and I cannot compete with any of you ladies . . .but then I never view quilting as a competition; it's therapy
I love playing with color and with patterns. I've made my own patterns and I've used traditional patterns. Since I began to seriously consider quilting as the hobby I can do forever (this was maybe 5 years ago), I've averaged 2 quilts a year . . .
Originally, my quilts were tied, not actually quilted. The last few, however, I have branched out and hand quilted. I'm not very good at it; but it does pass those long cold winter evenings!
I love looking at the pictures everyone posts on this site! It's great to find people that understand that sometimes ya just gotta sew!!!

Thank you all for the welcomes!!!
Did somebody say pictures? Just as soon as I figger out how to post 'em, they'll show up! I try to take pictures of each quilt before I send it out into the world - and usually with its recipient too.
That's Sundance on the quilt . . . Butch is there too; she's just a tiny little tuxedo kitty and she's all curled up. As we say at our house, "Two kitties - no waiting!"

Welcome and Hafa Adai from Guam!
This is a wonderful place to land and enjoy friendship.
The quilts that some of these people make, just blow me away.
One of these days I will be good enough to make a quilt like them.

Thank you for the welcome!
I will NEVER be able to make quilts like some I've seen on here .. . but I'll keep trying to make each one I do a little better than the last one.
I love that quilting originated from the necessity of taking whatever fabric you could scrounge (leftovers, recycled, scavenged from the good parts of worn-out clothing) and using it to create warmth for those around you.
