Hello, I moved to Alabama from Tulsa in Dec of 2007. I was a real rolling stone moving from place to place for 17 years before finally deciding to retire and spend more time on my quilting. I liked Tulsa, lots of quilting going on there.

Where is lower Alabama? I'm still finding my way around here. I seem to spend more time in Pensacola since I' m just across the Florida line. I've been reading the posts here for several weeks and thought I would get my feet wet.

we're about 80 miles north of Mobile - I take it you are on "the eastern shore"?
There's a Fabric by the Pound on 59 in Robertsdale that you'll love if you haven't been there already... the cotton stuff is not sold by the pound by the way.... it's by the yard -
oh and "Lower Alabama" is just that - lower Alabama - not a town - an area.... so you are from LA also

Fabrics by the Pound was one of the first places I found while exploring the area when I first moved in. Just mention "fabric" and the nose gets going lol. Not that much of a selection but the decorator fabric was great.

Hello, you're right, it's much warmer here. We had our record cold spell last week. I decided to hibernate until it was over...just stayed in the sewing room. I made a big pot of vegetable soup so I was perfectly happy. Opened the door just to let the dog out and she was in and out in a heartbeat. Then she was back on the sofa under her own quilt. Smart dog!!

This is the absolutely the nicest group of people!! Do you live in LA(lower Alabama)? I've only been here 2 years but I sure like it. I've been piecing and quilting all week and am taking the day off to go yard-sailing. A cheap form of entertainment and sometimes I do find real bargains. Have a great day!!
