Hi, I just found this forum today and had to join you.
I'm a self taught quilter (well with the help of the internet, tv and many books). I've been quilting about 8 years. I was thrilled to get a Juki 98Q for a Christmas gift and bought a Flynn frame a couple months ago. I still have much to learn and hope to get to know you.

Hi Debbe, another Debbie here. I'm from the desert too. Lived in Tucson from 1974 to 1990. Now I'm in NC. What part of desert are you from. I recently heard that the Old Tucson movie studio/entertainment park burned down. They rebuilt but it's not the same. We used to take our kids there all the time. I miss the dry air. I was never sick when I lived there. NC is humid and has lots of pollen. I either have a cold or allergies almost all the time. Wish I was still there sometimes. But I do love NC, it's soooooooooo green. The plants and flowers here are so beautifull. Tuscon was TAN and HOT, need I say more. Welcome to the world of quilting, you're gonna love it here. So many nice and knowledgeable people.

I live in Marana, Az. which is about 25 miles NW of Tucson. If you left in 90 then you can't imagine just how much Tucson has grown in those 16 years. It is amazing. You are correct, our colors are tan and more tan. :wink: It was 95 here yesterday with more of the same due today. I am originally from the southern New York area so I know all about the beauty of the greens! Living here I always think of the song "On a clear day you can see forever" I can see to the horizon line in each direction, it doesn't get any better than that for me.

I to am new to this Message Board and have found interesting info here and load of help.
I have the Juki 98 Q on a Grace GMC Pro frame, I do have one problem with the though. I can't seem to get the top tension correct, my thread keeps breaking, If I set it a 1 then I get the loopies on the bottom and 2 seem to break the thread. Are you having the same problem??
I have found anyone else here that states they have the Juki 98Q so your reply would be wonderful.

I have my thread tension at about 2 1/2 and the only time I have problems with breakage (no matter what thread I'm using) is when I quilt from right to left. If I quilt in any other directions it's good but for some reason it doesn't like the right to left mode. I'm using the flynn frame and hope to get a "real" frame at some point.
