Good morning from northwest Iowa, where we have several inches of new snow--great day to stay home and sew. This is a great site for quilters, knowledge and opinions are freely shared, most questions get good answers, and there is usually a laugh, or at least a big smile in every day's messages.

Hello, all! It is nice to find you. My name is Mary. I live on a farm in what I always thought was the southwester portion of central Indiana. I was recently informed anything south of US40 is Southern Indiana. News to me!
Whatever it is called, here is where I am. I have sewn since I was 5 (which was over 40 years ago!) but have never called myself a quilter. I started seriously making quilts about 4 years ago. I always thought that quilts had to be sewn by hand. I do everything by machine.
Machines are how I found this place. I love vintage machines. Now I am at a point in life where I can acquire some. I think I may have a problem!
This year I am stretching myself and maybe when the year is done I will consider myself a quilter. I am doing a BOM at the LQS. I am going to Texas for a Quilter's Retreat - a first for me, and I think I am going to do a portion of The Farmer's wife.
When I make a Double Wedding Ring and quilt it, I think then I will be a quilter.
Nice to find ya'all!

Welcome to the Quilting Board from sunny Nevada! We're delighted to have you, and your experience. I also think you're already a quilter, just a little shy about admitting it. You don't have to complete a complicated quilt to call yourself a quilter! Just having a passion for the art, and working on it, is plenty to qualify for that designation. We're here to help, and hope you will share photos of your work with us. We'd love to see it!
