Hello
Hello. My name is Cindy. I have been quilting for about 10 years, but really got serious in the last 2-3 yrs. I hand quilt and machine quilt. My mother quilted and my 93 yr old mother-in-law still quilts. I have done about 7 queen to cal king size quilts. a baby quilt ( new grandson ), and several small projects. I'm pretty much self taught with the help of books and tutorials..where I live there are very few quilting classes.
I just turned 60 and have been retired for 2 yrs from nursing. I have two grown children (daughter and son) ,four grandsons including our precious 4 month old.
Right now I am stuck on a Double Wedding Ring quilt. I don't particularly like the colors (pretty neutral),but they match the room its going in. It's a chore to make myself work on it. Any one else go throughthis? How did you cope?

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. When I have a boring project, I save it to work along with Bonnie Hunter during QuiltCam. Bonnie works on her own projects and encourages viewers to work along on their own projects. Bonnie has archived many episodes on youtube and she said her next live one will be after the Juky 4 th weekend? Her site is http://www.quiltville.blogspot.ca

Hi from PA. I have made quilts for people with specific material that was not my style and I always just considered the end product and not the doing.
As the quilts near completion they become different and more appealing even if they were not made with my favorite fabrics, they were still lovely quilts. In the end, so far, I like every quilt I have made with other peoples fabric, even if the beginnings were a bit out of tune with me.
have fun on the QB.
peace

Welcome to the quilting board from beautiful western NC. I retired from teaching middle school quite a few years ago. I am a few years older than you, as well! You will learn many things on this site, so I hope you enjoy reading as much as I do.

Hi Cindy and welcome from Oklahoma City, OK. I did one DWR and I said I'd never do another one. It was a last minute wedding gift and I worked like crazy trying to get it finished for the wedding but didn't quite make it. I was pretty amazed how good it turned out seeing as I'd never done anything like that before. Good luck with your's and don't give up. Where in Ohio are you? I was raised in Bellefontaine and all of my family still lives there.
