Hello
Hello, I came across QB while browsing online.i live in the UK, and started sewing about 4 years ago. I have made about 8 quilts so far, and, since retiring from work last year, I can spend more time sewing. I did have an ancient Jones electric machine that used to drive me insane with tension problems, so after a lot of soul searching and trepidation, I bought a computerised entry level 3050 Janome. I have loved it, so much easier than my older machine. Most of my learning is from blogs, journals and U tube, and there are some wonderful tutorials on these sites. I do like fabric, it is quite expensive here anyway, and my absolute favourite fabric is from Liberty. I like to up-cycle so I find a lot of fabric in charity shops. When I am asked what gift I would like for Christmas and so on, I ask for a piece of fabric from Liberty!I have enjoyed lurking on here for the last few days, so "hello"

Welcome to the board. this is a good place to share ideas and get help.
I have asked for gift certificates for fabric, too, but no one pays attention. One of my favorite places to fabric shop is in thrift stores; I am frequently find excellent quality fabrics at very reasonable prices. Sheets make excellent backing, too, so if there is a sheet in excellent condition, I buy it.
good luck with your quilting career!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Yes, I also use sheets for backing! It is great when I can find a really pretty one.As an aside, I cannot add my location to my profile for some reason. When I try, all I get is a 'loading' spinning thing.I am a retired nurse, having spent 40 years in the NHS. I worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Respiratory care for the last 10 years. Enjoyed my career, but now enjoying the rest.
