I am a beginning quilter, and I am new to a forum layout, so I can't figure out how to add Texas to the location spot by my name. Perhaps I will figure that out in time.

I have been a seamstress all my life, but I have just recently started quilting. I joined the local Quilting Guild a year ago just to satisfy my sister, who has been quilting 12 years. I retired from teaching after 39 years and have replaced grading papers with quilting. So far it has worked well! I enjoy it, but I think I ask my sister too many questions. I hope this Quilting Board will help with that...

I asked this question elsewhere, but, just in case no one reads that...does anyone use polyester batting? I bought some before my sister told me she uses only cotton, and I want to use it, but not if it will mess up my quilt. I guess the question is does anyone use polyester batting and like it.

Welcome from Southern California. To put your location go to "My profile". There is a spot for that.
You will earn a lot here. Hope you enjoy.

    Hello, and welcome from Missouri!
I use polyester batting and am pleased with it. I am not a purist, and use whatever I have. We use it at church to quilt for others. If someone wants something special, they supply it, otherwise we use what we have on hand.

Okay, I think I have added Texas to the information at the left. Thanks for info on how to do that.

And, Sharon, thanks for saying you like polyester. I really want to like it, and I have already bought it. :)

    Welcome from Western PA.

I agree with ShemJo: I use whatever batting I have, usually purchased on sale. I've never had any problems with polyester batting. I've used it in quilts that have been washed many times and in wall-hangings that rarely get washed.
