Hello from VA

I am also in the Roanoke area and just joined today. I have two Bernina machines and love them. Try Alpine Sewing, it is family owned and really great people. I bought the first Bernina, the QE 153, a few years ago and then decided I needed a few more decorative stitches than I had. I went back to the store and ended up with the 640E that also has the embroidery attachment. I did not intend on getting an embroidery machine but decided to go ahead and upgrade to include that option as well. I have had lots of fun with it. Embroidering towels, sweatshirts and t-shirts make great Christmas presents. You do have to have deep pockets, the machines are expensive. Good luck with your decisions and have fun.

Hi MtnMama - You must not be too far from me. I live in Hardy. I've heard about Alpine but haven't had a chance to get there yet...been quilting too much. ;) I made a Saturday of it last weekend and went to all of the quilting stores in the area. The Board is right...some stores seem to be a little 'uppity' but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.
