I'm new to the site, as well as new to quilting. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions. I have sewn for years and just recently tried my hand at quilting and fell in love. I homeschool my 6th grader, so most of my day is quite full. Can anyone suggest a starting point for me to get basic understanding of quilting. Thanks

Hi and welcome from Soothern California! There are lots of free patterns on-line-maybe find a few second-hand magazines-most give the basics of quilting for a beginner. That is how I learned. You will also get all the info you need right here on this board-there are pleanty of tutorials and patterns our members have shared.

    Welcome from North Florida!

I don't know how far Decator or Conyers is from you but there is a quilt store in each of those towns. Most quilt stores have beginner classes. They will also know of any quilt guilds in your area.

The library usually has many beginner quilt books. There are also a ton of online videos. Google is your friend when it comes to finding tutorials.

I would suggest you begin with a very simple pattern first even if you fall in love with a more complicated pattern. You can do the more challenging pattern after you've built up your skills and confidence.
