    I do. But I have a Ken-Quilt set-up. I love my regulator.

The regulator is a rather expensive addition to the machine and allows you to do different kinds of work. My machine has one and I use it when I am working on complicated, small patterns where I work more slowly and with lots of starts and stops. They do have benefits and for me it helped to build my confidence when learning to do free motion quilting on my long arm machine.

    Welcome to the QB.

Thank you! I think it would really help me get comfortable with the process. Maybe I'll grow out of it, but seems like it would be beneficial.

The sales person I bought my new joy and Janome from said they had a lot of problems with the regulator and advised me not to purchase it...so I didn't..have not missed it

Welcome from OHIO! I have the Viking Mega Quilter, which is the same machine as the Janome 1600 ad the Pfaff Grand Quilter. It came with a stitch regulator and I used it for the first six months or so, but then I removed it. It's a great tool while you're learning to use the machine, but after awhile, unplug it and try the patterns without using it. If I had to pay for one, I would just learn without it.
