Hi from Central GA

We spent Friday night in Athens! We live in the middle of no where, and my husband took me there to visit Hancock's, Joann's, and Hobby Lobby.... It was part of our anniversary weekend! I sure had a good time. Quincy sat in the car part of the time, but he didn't hurry me. Really enjoyed myself. And of course, we love our Georgia Bulldawgs!

Donna, I need to get back there! I heard it's gotten much bigger than it was in the 70's- we had such a blast (college years) and all I can remember is that brilliant sunshine, gorgeous flowers and beautiful southern accents! We are from New York so it was like a language barrier practically haha
Gotta get back!! I've been to Savannah (gorgeous) but not back to Athens yet :D

If you'd been there anytime lately, the main thing you would probably remember would be the heat. This has been the hottest summer I ever remember in GA. We had heat indexes of 105+ for 3 straight weeks here. I'm so looking forward to the first frost!

Thank you to everyone for all the nice welcomes! It's amazing all the places you people are from... This is a very active, interesting group. I have spent WAY too much time today reading old posts, looking at pictures, and trying to get used to the ropes. Have thoroughly enjoyed myself!

You are from the one place if I had a chance to ever go visit that I would REALLY want to go. My brother and sister-in-law have traveled many, many places. Their cruise to Alaska last summer was the most enjoyable one they've ever taken. They said nothing could compare to the beauty. So, maybe one day, I'll make it up there to see if they are telling the truth!

Donna, I've lived in Ohio for many years and this summer was the absolute WORST!! Very hot and humid. I do remember the heat in Georgia and we never had good AC then but our apartment had a pool that I spent a lot of time in! I was much younger- I think now I would have a hard time w/o good AC :D

Don't know exactly where Toomsboro is, though I've heard of it. Do you know about the Plantation Quilters (guild) in Juliette, GA? They're a great group who meet on 3rd Saturday morning of every month. If it's anywhere near where you are, you should check them out.
