Wow,
I can't believe how many 'welcomes' I've had.
We managed to try out and buy the Pfaff 1471 today and I'm reading through the pristine booklets etc. It was owned by a lovely lady who now can't see very well and it has been looked after beautifully. She gave me some bags full of useful 'bits' (poppers, zips et etc)as well and I can't wait to try it out properly. Thanks so much for your wonderful welcomes and advice. You are such a cheery lot.

Welcome from New Mexico! Love England, lived there for a couple of years in the 60s and return as often as possible. Sounds like you found a terrific machine. Happy quilting to you. Blessings on your hubby for suggesting a machine!

Hey Annie, congrats on your lovely companion! As a "Pfaffie" myself, I have to admit, I really like this kind of machines, esp. the IDT works so well! FMQ is possible as well, although I have to admit that there is a problem, but mostly in front of the sewing machine ;-).
So glad you made a good deal :). Enjoy the "playtime".

Hi from Wisconsin. both of my machines were used and I really enjoy them, but a new one will last probably a lot longer. If you asked for a used one tht has been checked out good, you may be able to ask for other quilting tools then also. Good luck!

Welcome Annie from the chilly New Jersey shore. I also love Pfaff's and hope your fingers heal ASAP so you can get back to quilting. Lots of good info to be found here as well as lots of good quilting pals. Hugs, May in Jersey

Welcome Annie. Sorry to hear about your fingers. Hope they and you are feeling better. Seeing how I'm from the US, I'm not sure how to calculate what pounds to American currency is......anybody know? I'm not to worldly or well traveled.

Hi Annie,
I live in England too. About 5 years ago I saw a sewing machine Bernina advertised for £50. It still goes like a dream but it is an old model Bernina Record 830.
So I say it all depends what you want to do with your machine - some of the old machines are better than the newer ones.
Hope your fingers heal quickly.
