I have been playing around with making quilts for veterans for several years. They are just squares and tied, but the homeless vets in our area love them. They keep them for a long time. I am now starting to make more pieced quilts and I am ejoying it immencely. I would love to make a kalitascope(spelling) some day.

I take the quilts to the Veterans Administration in our area and they hold a stand down for the homeless vets in September every year and they hand them out to each of the vets. They can get showers and have their hair cut and are given other things from other organizations and anyone that wants to give to them like toothbrush, paste, soap, towels wash cloths, socks, gloves, hats, etc..
