Welcome from central California. Here lots of us seem to have pets and love them.

As for him coming from "Feral" cats, it's the adults who have massive problems with becoming domesticated, the babies are like young of all species, grow up the way they were raised. Don't worry about him, just love him. And be sure to have him altered when the Vet says it is time.
