You are right that the only way to fix is to take out the stitches. Time consuming! I personally wouldn't let her fix it but demand that she give you the $$ spent on quilting. I would take the stitching out and have it redone. When I did this to a quilt, I washed it and the prior stitches were not visible. Good Luck!
