Hi from FloriBama
Hi everyone.
I'm geographically separated from my sweetheart in LA (that's Lower Alabama, y'all). He is retired and keeping things going on the homestead. I am still working to pay for all our toys and my own retirement. He visits me about 10 days a month. All the kids are grown and flown their separate ways. I've been working and taking Masters classes until I am burnt out. Creating quilt tops is my stress relief. Each child has at least one and I am working on the grandkids. Soon we may have a great-grand to add to the tree.
My mother used to quilt totally by hand. We had a good partnership - I would make the tops and she would finish them. I've had to finish them on my own since 2006. My sweetie is currently adding a 15x22 ft room onto the house just for my sewing room. I am really looking forward to filling it with beautiful fabrics and perhaps a long armed machine.
I look forward to "meeting" everyone. Cheers!

I hear you on the Masters classes, took me 6 years to get mine driving back & forth to USF in Tampa from Largo on the beach, I'm down the coast from you. Working full time, going to school, family etc, etc isn't easy! Quilting is a great stress relief! Welcome to the board, you'll be inspired, learn lots and you've gained a huge quilting family

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. The photos on here are certainly inspiring.
jbj137 - I had to laugh at GRITS.... I'm Southern by the Grace of God myself. Only been away for 5 years in Southern California (San Diego) and 3 years in South West Asia. (Iraq and Kuwait)
Cyber - Is the pain of higher education worth it? I would much rather be home sewing!
