    Enjoy your Viking - I have an older model I won't trade for any other machine - works like a dream.

    Good patterns already mentioned. Try any with squares & rectangles before triangls and diamonds. Quilting is great for gearing down at the end of a hectic day. :wink:

    Greetings from the CA North-Central Valley. Rail fence, 4-patch, 9-patch, snow flake, log cabin...there are tons of beginner patterns.

    I learned from the book Quilts, Quilts, Quilts.
