I would like to know the difference between a sharp machine needle and a topstitch needle. They seem to have the same description. Also what are the different sizes used for. Thanks, Mary Sheehan

I'm not sure what a topstitch needle is either. the lower the number size the finer the needle. it sew heavy material use a 14 sewing light material like silk and satins use a 9 thats all I know hope it helps

Welcome to the site someone will have the answer. You could always post you question in the main forum might get an answer faster.

I thought I did post on the main message board. Shows how much I know. I will re-do my steps.

Welcome to the group, Jessiesmom! Hope you'll enjoy the ladies and gentlemen (Tim) quilters here. They sure have a LOT of knowledge and don't mind sharing it, either.

Hi Sharon, thanks. I sure do enjoy the group and appreciate the members sharing their knowledge. I am very new to sewing and quilting and don't know much yet. Although I have made 3 quilts already, far from perfect, I might add. But I just love designing and seeing them come together.

I pray that God will keep your son safe while he is in Iraq and come home soon. Mary Sheehan
