Thanks ladies! I just found another intro thread and a nice member gave a list of supplies. I'm stoked. Haha, I don't use that word but I'm excited about starting out. I'm going to call on Monday to register for a basics sewing class with our local public school district. I know they have a beginners course in October. Thanks again!

Oh, and I love You Tube! I started card making after finding a wonderful Canadian crafter on you tube.

A big welcome from the eastern part of Texas. I am 67 and just learned to quilt within the last couple of years. I could sew a little but, was far from being good at it. I found this board, read everyones post, looked at the pictures of the beautiful quilts for a couple of months and decided I wanted to lean to quilt. Thanks to all of the help and advise I got from the wounderful people on this board, I was able to lean the basic steps necessary to piece a quilt. I will always be thankful for their patience, their help, their advise and most of all their friendship. I assure you are in the right place to fall in love with quilting. Good luck.

Welcome from Virginia. Any basic sewing machine will get you started. A nine patch square is very basic and can be very pretty with the right colour combinations.
I taught myself and bought a "how to quilt" book and have grown from there.
This board is awesome, the videos and u-tube tutorials are awseome. The missouri quilt company tutorials are great as well as Sharon Schamburg (spelling)?
    Good luck and happy quilting:)

welcome from North Dakota, have fun with your machine. take her slow and easy, 1/4 " seam, squared up and you're on a roll. Just remember when sewing strips go down one and up on the next one. keeps them from bowing. I double seam all mine so don't have that problem. never worry about them coming apart either.
