    Hi to everyone,
My name is Gaila and I have taken my first two quilting classes. I have sewed some in the past, but wanted to start quilting and learn the right way. I'm so excited.

I do have one questions. I've seen lots of peoples quilting rooms with all of the fabrics you have collected. I know our Wal-Mart is downsizing and marking down alot of their fabrics right now and I would love to be able to pick up some at the discounted prices. My question is: How much fabric should I get if I don't have a certain project in mind for it? 1 yard, 2???? What would be a standard amount to have on hand? I don't even know if this is a question that has an answer..

Thank you and I hope to make lots of new friends and learn alot on this group.

    Hello, and welcome from Idaho!
A lot of people buy 3 yards, I only buy for a pattern I know I will make.

Hi from Ohio! 3 or more yards depending on if you really like the material. I like the colors white and navy blue and yellow in quilts so I may pick up more yardage in those colors.
