Had to get my two cents worth in. I'm from Manitoba so am probably the nearest one to you. Great to have so many Canadians on line. Great site eh?

    Thanks for the welcome, everyone.

Judith, yeah, it's great to have Canadians on the board so that we can talk about "who has what" in fabric stores, too. And not just drool over those stores the American members have, that we don't.

Hey, Andrea! My husband and I are planning the honeymoon we've never had (in 14 years together!), out your way in the next year or two. Well...ok...it's the WESTERN side of Newfoundland, but it's still out your way. You may be on "the Rock", but it sure is a beautiful rock!

I have several of these blocks done now, so when my daughter wakes up, I'll make her dig up her camera so I can post a pic of the variations I've done. Thanks so much to all of you for the encouragement!

rb I love it here! Although I live on the eastern end of the island, I was out on the west coast last October doing some hiking and such... The photo of me here was taken back then and the Tablelands are being me in Gros Morne National Park.. I highly recommend you go there.

There is also a nice quilt shop out in Pasadena on the west coast (was hoping to go there back in the fall but never happened... hopefully this summer I will be out that way again to check it out) there is also a little fabric/craft shop out in Rocky Harbour thats nice too. Rocky Harbour is in Gros Morne.

Hey who knows, maybe your long awaited honeymoon might take you to St. John's.. you will have to look me up if that happens.. take the ferry to Argentia instead of Port aux Basques.. then you are only 1 1.2 hours from me.. I can show you some great touristy places as well as nice places to fabric shop :) Then take your time and drive across the island to the west coast. (well that is if you are driving not flying ) :)

    Cheers
    Andrea

Hi rb, I'm in Southwestern Ont. , near Detroit border. I do get to shop quite a bit in the states. In fact, I'm snowbirding it in Florida at the present time. Will be home in March. I really love shopping online when I come to Florida and don't have to worry about the international shipping charges. It's been great!
you will love this site. I have learned a lot here and love seeing all the beautiful projects that everyone comes up with.
We really are limited to buying fabric at quilt shops in the Windsor area. We have several very nice shops, but the fabric is at a premium price. I have purchased lots of fabric this winter, in Florida, at a fraction of the price that I would pay at home. Our money goes a long way here now also.
