Hi from Oz
Hi from downunder. I hated dressmaking when younger - could never get anything made to fit me - and could never sew a straight line. But since I started patchwork 6 years ago sewing has taken on a whole new meaning and I really enjoy it.
We live in a very small country town in southern NSW (pop 200 on a good day) and travel approx 50km to do our shopping, medical etc. So it is very quiet here and patchwork provides a really relaxing, inspiring, frustrating way to spend a day. That is, when we are not looking at the hills and lakes all around us.
I love scrappy quilts - but I don't quite know yet how all those scraps seem to come about. They just seem to grow overnight.
Anyway - looking forward to meeting you all here and sharing and learning.
Cheers Chris

Hello and welcome from Perth, Western Australia. I too hated dressmaking and sewing classes when I was growing up....my home economics teacher was astounded that it took me a year to make a pillowcase. Funny how we get bitten by the patchwork and quilting bug.....my spare time is devoted to the search and find of fabric and a vast collection of magazines, books and patterns...I love watching a quilt come together out of all the bits and pieces.
This board is a wonderful forum for discussion, learning and sharing....don't think there's a time I've dropped by and not been inspired, amazed or amused and I always pick up tips and gems of information that make those tricky quilting moments a whole lot easier. I'm sure you'll enjoy being part of our group. Happy quilting and look forward to seeing some of your work.

Hi and welcome from South Africa!
Also hated sewing when I was younger but lived in a very small place that had very few dress shops so had to learn if I wanted something new to wear. Once I discovered quilting the dressmaking stopped Luckily I have moved and can now buy clothes!!
