I would be too intimidated. Starting so late in life that my "quilting" is for family only and mostly babies (including some charity blankets). It is great therapy and I think the suggestion of making a quilt from things that are remembrances might be rewarding and comforting.

Welcome from Scottsdale. I am sorry about your Mother, and at such a tough time of year for a loss. The good thing about this board is that it will keep you very busy, provide new friendships and quilting inspiration, and take your mind off your loss at least for a little while each day. Happy New Year.

Waving high and wide from Missouri. You will love this board with not only its useful quilting hints and photos, but also the encouragement one receives when needed for whatever reason. Blessings you to as you deal with Mom's passing. Been there done this and it never got any easier as the months and days spiraled downward. Try to remember only the good times.

Welcome from Buckeye. My grandpa recently passed away while he was living at Eastman Assisted Living in Prescott Valley. I used his shirts to make pillows for family members and they loved them. It brought back lots of memories while I was working on them.
