Hi from South Texas! (I've gotten myself into a mess already!)
Hi there everyone! I'm so excited to join the group! I've been doing some quilting research the last couple weeks and everything keeps coming back here, so I figured I'd better join.
Over the last 5-7 years I've taught myself to sew. Well actually, I think it was already in me since my grandma and mom are pretty amazing at it already. I usually make little things for my best friends kids, or clothes here and there for me. Well, then I decided I wanted to start making quilts. For Christmas last year I made 4 small (52x64") quilts for people gifts. They were the jellyroll strip quilts, and they came out amazing. I think it was a good introduction to quilting.
Then I had this crazy idea to make a quilt for my sister and her future husband for their wedding gift. Crazy? Probably. Then she told my mom that she loved this Lockwood pattern (http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/6107.htm#) and I decided that I would make it. Really crazy, right?! So now I'm working on that and I only have two weeks to get it to the quilter or else it won't be done in time for the wedding. Wish me luck!
And, here's a few pictures of what I've made so far.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. Well you picked a fairly hard pattern to do with a time crunch. Your first Diamond looks outstanding! If you can get the center done, you can always appliqué it onto a full size front and send it to the longarmer.

Thank you everyone! I've got 13 diamond blocks done, only 19 more, and 32 more square ones. I'm hoping to get all the diamonds done this weekend and the squares done by Wednesday. (they're much easier!) Here's the center, so far:
